Suzanne Young

Director

Suzanne Young is a dedicated advocate for individuals experiencing homelessness and a seasoned professional in the nonprofit sector. With over 20 years of experience, she has held roles ranging from case manager and program manager to grant writer and outreach coordinator, giving her a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities within this field. Suzanne is known for her ability to approach homelessness with a strategic, solution-focused mindset, ensuring that resources are utilized effectively to make the greatest impact.

Charleston is fortunate to benefit from Suzanne's leadership and commitment to collaboration. She is instrumental in bringing key stakeholders—property owners, service providers, and community leaders—together to develop sustainable, impactful solutions. Suzanne’s ability to foster partnerships and create systems rooted in dignity and compassion has positioned her as a driving force behind Charleston’s efforts to address homelessness and build a more inclusive community.

Jacki Powers

SPECIAL PROJECT MANAGER

As special project manager, Jacki Powers leads the Case Management team and drives the implementation of the Gateway to Housing Program. Specializing in solutions for low-income and unhoused individuals, Powers works across Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester Counties to help improve access to housing and essential services.

A proud Charleston native, Jacki graduated from Wando High School before earning two degrees from the University of South Carolina. She is a licensed master social worker (LMSW) and has built a diverse career that spans healthcare, nonprofit management and social services, blending clinical and operational expertise in her role.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband of over 20 years, Brian, their two children, and their slightly crazy dog, Derek.
